Samsung, the world’s largest TV maker, launched Samsung TV Plus, its free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) service, in India in March 2021. Initially, it offered 27 live TV channels but as of today, it offers 134 channels to Samsung TV users in the country for free.
On the other hand, one of Samsung’s main rivals in the TV market, LG, launched its FAST service, LG Channels, in India in September 2023. Initially, it offered only nine channels but the brand has just upgraded it with more channels. However, Samsung is still ahead in the race.
LG Channels now offers more than 100 live TV channels in India
LG has announced that it has expanded LG Channels in India and now, the service offers around 100 live TV channels for free to LG WebOS TV users in the country.
As mentioned earlier, Samsung TV Plus offers 134 live TV channels on Samsung TVs in India for free. That’s way higher than what LG Channels offers in the country.
Samsung TV Plus lost some great channels in India
Samsung consistently keeps removing and adding channels to Samsung TV Plus in India. Last year, it removed many popular channels, including Animal Planet, Animal Planet HD, Discovery, Discovery HD, Discovery Kids, Discovery Turbo, TLC, and TLC HD.
While it has added a few of them back to the service, some are still missing, including Discovery and TLC HD. With LG upping its game, we hope that Samsung also makes an effort to add more channels to its FAST service for the country to stay ahead in the race.
For your reference, Samsung TV Plus is available in around 24 countries globally and offers around 3,000 channels across the world for free. Speaking of channels, follow our channel on Telegram/WhatsApp to get the latest Samsung news delivered to you.
