'Really happy to have in our team': Marc Cucurella shares delight to play alongside£21m Chelsea teammate

Marc Cucurella has delivered a glowing verdict on one Chelsea teammate by admitting he really enjoys playing alongside him.

When you look across the entire Chelsea squad this season, Marc Cucurella may be the most improved player. The 26-year-old left-back has simply gone to a new level ever since he helped Spain win the Euros in the summer of 2024.

Danny Murphy praised Cucurella’s turnaround because he’s gone from looking “nervous” to a key player in Chelsea colours.

The defender is a great example to any struggling Blues stars that you can turn things around. His form is now night and day compared to when he joined from Brighton in 2022.

Marc Cucurella has huge belief on Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen

Cucurella was on media duties on Wednesday for the pre-match press conference before Chelsea’s Conference League tie versus Copenhagen

He delivered some very kinds words about Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, 22, as he enjoys playing in the same team as him.

When asked about Blues teammate Jorgensen, Cucurella said via Chelsea’s official YouTube channel: “I think he’s a really good keeper. I know from Spain because I always try to watch La Liga. He’s very young. He plays very good with his feet. He understands and he has a lot to improve. I’m really happy to have Filip in our team. Hopefully he can help us for the rest of the season.”

It’s been a challenging debut season so far for Jorgensen at Chelsea since he joined in a £21m deal (BBC) from Villarreal last summer.

Even though the shot-stopper recently replaced Robert Sanchez as the first-choice keeper for the Premier League, he’s still got major question marks around him because of individual errors. Remarkably, Jorgensen is the Premier League’s lowest rated goalkeeper in the 2024/25 campaign right now.

The starting goalkeeper vs Copenhagen

In Chelsea’s upcoming match against Copenhagen on Thursday evening, Enzo Maresca has already confirmed who will start in-between the sticks.

Maresca confirmed that Robert Sanchez will start the Conference League first-leg match away to Copenhagen (Football.London).

The good news for Jorgensen is it appears he will continue as the starting goalkeeper for the Premier League. Incidentally, the Blues host Leicester City on Sunday in their next league fixture.

As for Sanchez, it’s a great chance for him to get more minutes under his belt and to recapture some form after a difficult year himself.
