Juventus fullback Andrea Cambiaso remains a key target for Manchester City, according to reports in Italy.
The Engish champions were seriously considering a bid for the Italian international during the January transfer window.
However, Tuttosport claim that the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules prevented them from tabling a proposal, having already spent £180m on new signings.

City’s interest could be revived in the summer, and it is believed that Cambiaso would be “tempted” by the move.
Juventus have slapped a sizeable asking price on Cambiaso
If the Cityzens do make an approach at the end of the season, Juve are set to demand around €70m (£58m) for the defender.
Sporting director Cristiano Guintoli is said to be open to sanctioning Cambiaso’s sale, although he would welcome other clubs getting involved.
Tuttosport believe that the player himself would not be keen on going anywhere other than the Etihad as his interest in joining City is said to be based on Pep Guardiola’s presence. The likes of Arsenal and Manchester United were mentioned as potential suitors last summer, but he chose to remain in Turin at the time.
City’s pursuit is at the behest of Guardiola
The Manchester club are likely to be in the market for a new right-back when the transfer window reopens, with Kyle Walker not expected to stay even when he returns from his loan spell at AC Milan in July.
Alternatives to Cambiaso have been considered in recent months. Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong is a potential candidate, with it being suggested that he could be sold for around €40m (£33m). That would make the Dutchman a much cheaper addition.
Guardiola is, though, believed to be very keen on Cambiaso. For that reason, it looks like City will reignite their pursuit of the player.
