Newcastle United just got a glimpse of what they will face in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.
Everything appears to be going wrong for Newcastle United as they prepare for their trip to Wembley. It started with Anthony Gordon’s suspension, and that was followed by Lewis Hall’s injury.
He is out for the season, and now Sven Botman is ruled out too. The Dutch centre-back is set to undergo surgery on his knee and will therefore miss the Carabao Cup final.
All the while, Liverpool continue to fight for a treble in Arne Slot’s first season.
The Champions League could be their biggest hurdle, but they have got one foot in the quarter-final after Wednesday night’s 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain.

Alan Shearer amazed by Liverpool star Alisson Becker
It was a smash and grab from the Reds, with Harvey Elliott netting a winner with his first touch in the 87th minute.
Up until that point, Liverpool had been under the cosh. PSG created a plethora of chances, but could not find a way past Alisson Becker.
The Brazil international produced a masterclass in goalkeeping, pulling out wonder-save after wonder-save to ensure his sheet remained clean. In total, Alisson made nine saves against PSG.

It was a performance that Alan Shearer loved, with the Newcastle United legend writing on X: “What a performance from Alisson that was, outstanding.”
Alisson’s record against Newcastle United
Alisson’s performance against PSG is a reminder of what Newcastle United are up against.
Even if Eddie Howe’s side can find a way through the Liverpool defence, they will then need to beat arguably the best goalkeeper in the world.
The Magpies experienced that first-hand last season at St James’ Park, as the 32-year-old produced a wonder save to deny Miguel Almiron.
During his Liverpool career, Alisson has played against Newcastle 12 times. He has won 10, drawn two and kept five clean sheets.
In total, Alisson has conceded nine goals against the Magpies. Three of them came last season, with Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon and Sven Botman finding the net against the Reds.
Unfortunately, two of those players are unavailable for the Carabao Cup final.
