Liverpool were 1-0 winners over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Reds faced a tough task in Paris and that is exactly what they found and can count themselves very lucky to be returning to Anfield for the second leg with an advantage over the Ligue 1 leaders.
Harvey Elliott’s late goal at the Parc des Princes may have grabbed the headlines, but Arne Slot has Alisson Becker to thank for the result in Paris.
Steve McManaman and Rio Ferdinand were full of praise for Alisson after the Brazilian somehow kept a clean sheet against PSG.
The TNT Sports pundits were two of many to shower the 32-year-old with love on Wednesday night with Thierry Henry going as far as to compare the Liverpool goalkeeper to two Champions League greats.

Thierry Henry compares Liverpool’s Alisson to Chelsea and Real Madrid legends
Alisson has always been a reliable player for Liverpool since joining the Merseyside club from Roma in 2018 and played a big role in the Reds winning the Champions League in 2019.
Should Slot’s men achieve that this season, the Dutch coach will have his goalkeeper to thank, with Alisson stating that his PSG display was probably the best of his life.
Speaking on CBS Sports, Henry put the Brazilian international in the same league as two Champions League greats in Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois.
MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES
“On this one, you have to give Alisson Becker a lot of credit because I think three should have been a goal. Some he was there. I do understand the free kick but for the other three, he has no right to save that,” the French pundit stated.
“Apart from the one of Neves when it goes over the crossbar, sometimes also you have to give the goalkeeper credit.
"There's nothing you can say about Alison Becker. He was magnificent tonight."

“And on that one, there’s nothing you can say about Alisson Becker because he was magnificent tonight and if it wasn’t for him, Liverpool would have struggled.
“I’ve seen Petr Cech doing that in every game when Chelsea won the Chelsea won Champions League, we’ve seen Courtois doing that in the final, but I don’t remember a lot of games like that, a lot of saves like that.”
How Alisson stacks up against Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois
Goalkeeping great Peter Schmeichel labelled Alisson’s performance against PSG as “one of the best goalkeeping displays” he has ever seen in his life. This is high praise from a man who knows the position very well.
When it comes to Henry’s comparison, the Brazilian has some way to go in terms of numbers before he catches up with Cech and Courtois.

That doesn’t tell the full story as the 32-year-old is certainly in the same bracket as the duo when it comes to iconic Champions League displays.
Wednesday night’s was Alisson’s best in a Liverpool shirt and the Reds goalkeeper will hope it was not all for nothing by the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
