Report: What Chelsea insiders are saying about Djordje Petrovic as Maresca makes goalkeeper transfer decision

Chelsea insiders have offered their verdict on Djordje Petrovic’s performances during his loan spell at Strasbourg and what might happen to him next season.

Chelsea’s goalkeeper situation is a concerning one right now with Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen both struggling to stake their claim for the number one jersey this season.

There have been calls for Chelsea to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer, although the West London club will be aware that they have two promising shotstoppers returning to West London next summer.

One of those is Petrovic, whose first spell at Stamford Bridge wasn’t so promising, however, the perception around him is starting to change.

Chelsea insiders think Djordje Petrovic can become first choice goalkeeper

Chelsea insider claim that it would not be a surprise if Djordje Petrovic was to become the club’s first choice goalkeeper next season, according to the Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old has been impressing on loan at Strasbourg where he has now kept four clean sheets in a row with the Ligue 1 club.

Starsbourg manager Liam Rosinier has called Petrovic ‘world class’ as his performances continue to earn him rave reviews in France.

Chelsea fans want Petrovic to be a part of Enzo Maresca’s squad next season and they look set to be granted their wish with the club seemingly ready to hand him his chance.

Chelsea have no plans to sign a new goalkeeper

Chelsea currenlty have no plans to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer with Mike Penders set to join Jorgensen, Sanchez and Petrovic in vying for a place in the team.

The 19-year-old is having a great season with Genk having kept seven clean sheets in 23 apperances and has now become the team’s new first choice.

But surely Maresca will decide to either sell or loan at least one of the four goalkeepers who he will struggle to keep all happy.
