Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has outlined two qualities Toby Collyer will add to the squad ahead of his prospective return against Real Sociedad this evening.
Collyer is in line to make his first appearance since starting United's 2-0 win over FCSB in their final Europa League league phase outing at the end of January. He has missed the last four games with a muscle problem.
He has been included in the 18-man squad that has travelled to Spain for the first leg of the last-16 tie against Sociedad, giving United a timely boost after fellow midfielder Manuel Ugarte became the latest addition to the injury list.
Collyer has impressed at times for United this season, offering plenty of encouragement that he could become a regular fixture in Amorim's long-term plans. The United chief insists his return is "important", detailing what he offers the team.
"It is important for us," Amorim told MUTV, addressing Collyer's return. "It is one more option for the midfield.
"He has a lot of pace and he is really brave. We are happy to have him."
United will be without several key figures at the Reale Arena this evening, including the likes of Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Kobbie Mainoo and Amad, meaning the squad is becoming increasingly stretched. However, Amorim has urged those who will be involved to embrace the opportunity and attempt to translate that into a good performance.
Explaining what his players must try and do, he continued: "Enjoy the game, and that is really important for them to have a good performance. We are improving the small things.
"We have to continue and we know that this is going to be a decisive game for the next stage."
