EARLY LIFE AND FIRST STEPS

Born in Chelmsford, Taylor's dad Paul is a Town fan, who saw the club win the FA Cup and UEFA Cup when he was younger. Taylor Senior stills follows the Blues now, especially with his son playing for the club.

Taylor joined Town at the age of 10, where he progressed through the age groups and became a full academy player in the summer of 2022, signing a two-year-scholarship.

The versatile player was part of the under-18s side who reached the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup, losing to eventual winners West Ham United after extra-time. That run saw them beat Nottingham Forest and Liverpool.

CAPTAIN AND PRO CONTRACT

Taylor scored regularly throughout the 2022/23 season, including netting a hat-trick against Watford on the final day. The next campaign saw him go on to captain the under-18s.

He would also progress to play for the under-21s side, before signing his first professional contract at Portman Road in October 2023.

He posted on his Instagram after penning that deal: “Really proud moment for me and my family to sign my first professional contract."

It was a strong end of last season for him as he netted in four straight games for John McGreal's team in March 2024, establishing himself as a regular for the under-21s.

THIS SEASON AND WHAT HE BRINGS

Taylor can play all across the midfield or up front. He is a creative and intelligent footballer who brings his team-mates into play and can be a real handful to opposition defenders with his ability to hold up the ball, plus his poacher instincts.

He has excelled for McGreal's team in the 2024/25 campaign. He notched a brace on the opening day against Birmingham City and has scored ten goals, setting up seven more, so far.

The forward is out of contract this summer, so we shall see what the future holds for him after making his first steps into first team.
