Nottingham Forest keeping tabs on Norwich City standout

Norwich City striker Josh Sargent is on the radar of Nottingham Forest, according to reporter Graeme Bailey.

Norwich City have had an up and down season but they’re still in a decent position ahead of the run-in. NCFC sit in an underwhelming 11th, but they’re only four points off the play-offs.

It means a strong streak over the final months of the season could yet thrust them into serious play-off contention.

The contributions of key attackers such as Borja Sainz and Josh Sargent have been vital to maintaining such faint hopes, even if both have had spells out due to suspension and injury respectively. The Canaries stars have had interest from elsewhere too.

Now, it is claimed one club showing interest in Norwich City striker Sargent is Premier League side Nottingham Forest.

The top-flight’s surprise package are among the clubs to have scouted the American talisman amid his impressive performances. That’s according to reporter Graeme Bailey, who tells Nottingham Forest News that Sargent is one of several targets as the club eye a new striker.

Sargent has been with NCFC since the summer of 2021 and after signing a new deal in 2023, he is under contract until 2028.

Starring in the Championship

It’s safe to say Norwich City might have been in a better position in the Championship promotion fight had Sargent not spent a long spell on the sidelines through a groin injury.

The 25-year-old has a fantastic goal record considering the games he has played. Sargent has managed 11 goals and five assists in 21 Championship outings, averaging a goal every 153 minutes.

He now has 40 goals to his name in 87 Championship games. Having previously tested himself in the Bundesliga too, it could be that the NCFC man gets another shot at Premier League football in the not-too-distant future.

Norwich City have ambitions of getting back to the Premier League and they have star players who can play a key role in getting them there. However, some may well feel the time has come for them to play at a higher level.

Sargent, the earlier mentioned Sainz and midfield star Marcelino Nunez have all being linked with moves to top-flight clubs this season, and it’s hard not to see the Canaries’ resolve being tested at all this summer.

Time will tell if interest develops into concrete moves, but there are key players at Carrow Road who are not without interest from elsewhere.
