Exclusive: Newcastle United regular set for bumper new contract after changing agent

Geordie Boot Boys can exclusively reveal that Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy is set to receive a new contract.

The Magpies have recently extended multiple contracts, with Emil Krafth and Martin Dubravka signing new deals at St James’ Park.

Elsewhere, it is reported that Fabian Schar’s new contract is close to being finalised.

Now Newcastle United are looking beyond those players who were in the final few months of their deals. Newcastle will holds talks with Alexander Isak over extending his stay, as Toon officials aim to ward off interest from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.

Jacob Murphy in line for new Newcastle United contract

While it remains to be seen if Isak will put pen to paper on a new deal, Jacob Murphy is on course to do exactly that.

Geordie Boot Boys understand that the 30-year-old is in line to receive a new deal at St James’ Park, with his current contract due to expire in 2027.

This comes after Murphy recently changed agency. The winger had been represented by New Era Global Sports, but has now signed a deal with Wasserman.

Interestingly, Wasserman are also the agency that represent Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe. They also represent Harvey Barnes, Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall.

Wasserman announced the acquisition of Murphy on February 21st on Instagram, writing: “We are delighted to announce the signing of @nufc winger @jacobmurphy95. Jacob has been on fine form this season, with 12 goal contributions in the Premier League alone. From all of us at #TeamWass, welcome to the family.”

The best season of Jacob Murphy’s career

Murphy is set to be rewarded for his fine form this season, as he continues to enjoy the best campaign of his career.

So far this season, Murphy has made 29 appearances in all competitions. He has scored six goals and provided eight assists.

He has been a regular for Howe, not featuring in just seven games.

Murphy has been incredibly reliable, as highlighted by his 14 goal contributions so far. His most recent came in Newcastle’s 4-3 win over Nottingham Forest.

Signed by Rafa Benitez for £12million in 2017, Murphy’s Toon career has been quite staggering. His rise over the past couple of years has been remarkable, and he is in line to start the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on March 16th.
