Rasmus Hojlund has no future at Man United after failing to adapt to Ruben Amorim’s system, according to their former chief scout.
Mick Brown, who spent over a decade at Old Trafford during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that the 22-year-old’s lack of improvement has been “alarming”.
As a result, there is a growing belief that the forward will be replaced with a more experienced and recognised option to lead the line.
However, United believe they will struggle to move Hojlund on given the £72million fee paid to sign him from Atalanta just two years ago.
New concerns have emerged given the striker’s struggles to link up with his teammates, while he has scored just two goals in 22 league games this term.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Man United will stick with Joshua Zirkzee despite initial worries given his improvement under Amorim so far.

Hojlund, meanwhile, has struggled to show the same level of improvement and has failed to make an impact since the manager’s arrival in November.

Man United plan to replace Rasmus Hojlund in transfer twist
Brown told Football Insider in January that Man United want to sign a new striker amid growing concerns about Hojlund’s performances – but finances forced them to delay their plans.
Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and worked with elite strikers such as Ruud van Nistelrooy and Wayne Rooney at United, has insisted that the 22-year-old is no longer in Amorim’s long-term plans.
“It’s unthinkable when you consider his return for the capital invest in him,” he told Football Insider.
“When the kid from Arsenal [Chido Obi-Martin] came on against Fulham, it says a lot that he made more of an impact on that game that Hojlund did.
“I’m not saying he’s the answer to United’s prayers, but they’re better off working with him and putting their faith in him than they are with Hojlund.
“Everybody says he’s young and might be able to do it in the future, but he’s not showing that for me.
“He loses nearly every ball that comes up to him, can’t go past people and can’t score goals.
“I can see he’s trying and it’s not necessarily his fault, but I don’t think he’s good enough.
“Since Amorim came in, he hasn’t shown any improvement to his game where you can think they’re clearly working with him on these issues.
“He looks the same player he did when he came in two years ago, and that’s not good.
“It’s quite alarming, actually, because you expect to see some improvement from him.
“From what I hear, United are going to go out and sign a new striker in the summer because they don’t see Hojlund as somebody who is going to be up there long-term.
“The issue then, like I said, is the money they spent on him which means it’s unlikely they’ll be able to move him on if that’s what they wanted to do.”

Ruben Amorim plans to keep Bruno Fernandes amid exit rumours
Suggestions have emerged in recent weeks that Bruno Fernandes could look to leave Man United as a result of the club’s poor performances this season.
However, Brown told Football Insider on 4 March that Man United want Fernandes to stay and are ready to do everything in their power to keep him at the club.
The midfielder remains a crucial part of Amorim’s plans for the future and has been “head and shoulders” their best player so far this season.
Fernandes’ current contract at Old Trafford is set to run until 2027, while the club have the option to extend his deal by a further year, placing them firmly in control.
