Manchester United have a lot of holes to plug in their current squad and Ruben Amorim will know the importance of reinforcing them ahead of the next season if he was to build even a semi-successful project at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are currently languishing in the bottom half of the English top flight and do not have much left to play for, at least domestically this season. They are in the Round of 16 of the Europa League and that is one potential silverware up for grabs.

Since Man Utd moved Erik ten Hag on and brought Ruben Amorim, the team has started losing more games and is not able to adapt to the style of play that the Portuguese tactician is trying to deploy at Manchester.

One way Amorim can address all this is by signing players in the upcoming transfer window and as per Spanish source, Fichajes, Man United are preparing a first bid of £67million to sign talented Barcelona midfield star Marc Casado.

An unknown quantity outside of Barcelona prior to this campaign, Casado has thrived under Hansi Flick and gone on to establish himself as one of the best pivots in European football so far this season. He also earned his first cap for the Spanish senior national team under Luis de la Fuente.

Casado is an extremely intelligent footballer, and he makes up for his lack of physicality with his positional intelligence and a general tendency to read the game very well. His passing is very crisp which is what one would expect of someone coming through La Masia.

He has the leadership quality to be able to command a place in the dressing room and has captained in the youth levels until Barca Atletic. Despite his young age, he is often seen explaining tactics to his teammates when he is brought on during games.

However, Barcelona have never been a club that sells their most talented players and did not do this even during perilous financial times. Now that they seem to be out of choppy waters and have no reason to sell the 21-year-old.

Let’s wait and see if Man United push to convince Marc Casado or decide to move on to more attainable targets.
