Jalen Hurts and Nick Foles forever linked by an NFL benchmark not seen until now

Jalen Hurts and Nick Foles are now companion pieces in the NFL history books thanks to the Eagles' win in Super Bowl 59.

It will be hard for Howie Roseman haters to defend their position that he isn't the NFL's top general manager now. He has yet another feather to add to his cap thanks to the Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl win.

His reputation precedes him. He's helped guide Philly to two Super Bowl wins with two different head coaches. He's had his fair share of failed draft selections. Who hasn't? Recently, however, he has hit the target more often than not.

How also has a keen eye for quarterback talent. Nick Foles... Carson Wentz... Jalen Hurts... Tanner McKee...

We harken back to 2016. Wentz was an emerging star quarterback from North Dakota State. Despite his stellar performance in college, scouts were wary based on the lack of competition he faced.

Roseman and the Eagles were among the contingent who had no such inhibitions. They traded up (twice) to the second overall pick to get the guy they wanted.

Wentz was unmistakably a great pickup and a favorite to win league MVP in his second season. Ironically, two of his former backups would get Philly over the hump and lead them to glory.

Foles and Hurts are immortalized now thanks to Super Bowl wins. They are also companion pieces in history for another reason.

The Eagles are the only team to draft two quarterbacks outside the first round to start and win a Super Bowl.

The Eagles drafted Nick Foles and Jalen Hurts during the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft and the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft respectively. As we all know, both moves have turned out to be two of the wisest decisions the franchise has ever made.

Foles and Hurts led the Eagles to wins on the Super Bowl's grand stage. Both won the game's MVP trophy. They helped the Eagles reach a plateau not seen by any other NFL franchise by doing so.

No other organization has won the Lombardi Trophy twice while led by two quarterbacks drafted after the first round. Hurts and Foles have started and won a Super Bowl. For that reason, they are forever linked. Now, the goal is simple, winning another one. The 2025 NFL Draft is rapidly approaching.

Fans are studying the prospects in hopes of predicting who the Eagles will acquire with the 32nd overall pick. Last year, the selection meeting's first round drew the attention of around 12 million football fans [according to Yahoo! Sports](https://sports.yahoo.com/2024-nfl-draft-tv-ratings-down-despite-strong-1st-round-181213514.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAFbgDzJUxl6vY0ZjjWlZIGY-AVTcrw8xVUTJXSVShr-DiSeQlWKDj0m7wgjVSmncyqaqihqJQB2rtIUiIJa6I4jUaiZ5RiFy6jPCqfkV3j-psxNQOsRtF4CW8ShxKM57B3aPoaW2dveeQmJIQnZJq0k0ESN9F1PCVCKK2Fjhac_4#:~:text=According%20to%20Sports%20Business%20Journal,Day%201%20number%20since%202021.).

The second and third days of the draft received significantly less views, 5.1 and 3 million respectively. Yes, the big-name players are often off the board by the time Friday and Saturday roll around, but stay tuned.

If we haven't learned anything else, we've learned the players taken in the later rounds can be just as likely to make history as the first 32 players off the board. Just look at Jalen Hurts and Nick Foles if you need evidence. They're Super Bowl MVPs, and no one can ever take that away from them.
