Ethan Wheatley signs new Man Utd contract, Gabriele Biancheri and JJ Gabriel react

Manchester United sent Ethan Wheatley on loan to Walsall in League Two during the January transfer window.

After a season of fluctuating between the U21 side and the senior bench, Ethan Wheatley was in need of a loan move in January.

He headed to League Two title contenders Walsall where the manager Mat Sadler labelled Wheatley ‘incredible’, which gave us hope he was set for a huge six months.

The Manchester United youngster was slotted right into the first-team. Wheatley made his Walsall debut days later, and despite joining an exciting team, goals eluded the 19-year-old.

Wheatley is one of several United players out on loan, and is yet to score for his team, recently even dropping out of the squad. But now, he has had good news back at Carrington.

Ethan Wheatley signs new Manchester United contract

Despite being out on loan, Wheatley has been back at Carrington to sign a new contract with Manchester United.

The teenager has agreed to a fresh deal which runs until 2028, with United having the option of another year.

With four senior appearances to his name already, Wheatley is a player the club clearly rate and the contract reinforces this.

After the announcement, Wheatley took to Instagram with a message along with images of him signing the deal.

“Amazing feeling to have signed a new deal with this great club. Another proud moment for me and my family.”

The contract serves a few purposes for United, with it also likely to put the club in a better position if a sale is to transpire this summer or next.

Gabriele Biancheri and Jack Fletcher reacted with clapping emojis to the news.

Samuel Lusale sent a praise emoji and then Elyh Harrison and James Overy both sent hearts to Wheatley.

Another to reacted with clapping emojis was 14-year-old sensation JJ Gabriel who is tipped for greatness at United.

Jaydan Kamason responded by writing: “Wow”, with a clapping emoji and Jack Kingdon wrote: “Congrats you”.
