Newcastle United's plans continue to be disrupted ahead of the League Cup final with Liverpool on Sunday, March 16. Sven Botman is the latest first-team player set to miss the game at Wembley.
Newcastle were already set to be without Anthony Gordon (suspension) and Lewis Hall (injury) for the clash with the Reds. In another blow to Eddie Howe, their star centre-back also looks as though he will need surgery and miss the game.
According to the Daily Mail, the 25-year-old saw a specialist this week and was advised he would need an operation. That definitely means he will not be available on March 16 and could even miss the rest of the season.

Botman only returned from a 10-month layoff in January after recovering from an ACL problem.
There have also been concerns around the fitness of Newcastle's star man Alexander Isak. The Sweden international missed the recent league game at Anfield and he was seen to be hobbling off against Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup loss at the weekend.
"We've got a couple of injury problems developing that we hope don't turn into big problems for us because that would be really tough for us to manage because we don't have the strength and depth that we need," Howe told the Chronicle after the loss.
"So we need to try and keep as many players as fit as possible but pick our general performances back up to where they were a few weeks ago. We're still a very good team. We just need to get back into that with them."
Liverpool have some injury issues of their own to worry about, as Cody Gakpo missed the win over Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night. Conor Bradley could return before the cup final, although Joe Gomez is poised to miss the rest of the season.
