The Dallas Mavericks have gone through a lot over the past 12 months.
It started with the sale of the team, which was already a point of contention for the fanbase, and things have gone downhill ever since.
The Luka Doncic trade left many fans distraught and distrusting of what the organization was going to do next.
After all, he was the face of the franchise and one of the best players in the league, and the team decided to cut ties with him seemingly out of nowhere.
The saving grace in the trade was that the Mavericks got Anthony Davis back in return, but his potential season-ending injury added even more fuel to the fire.
Davis could get cleared by the end of the year, but many reports have indicated that even if he’s healthy, the Mavericks could shut him down and wait until next year for him to get back to normal.
This might make logical and financial sense for the Mavericks, but in a segment of “First Things First,” Chris Brossard mentioned that it could be devastating for their fans moving forward.
“They have destroyed their fanbase,” Broussard said.

Mavericks fans have been faithful throughout a lot of transitions and difficult periods, but this situation might be too much for them to come back from.
There has already been a lot of outcry on social media about how the team has handled the past several weeks, and that conversation could only get louder as the weeks go on.
Plus, with Kyrie Irving and Daniel Gafford also out indefinitely, this team is lacking the necessary star power to make a deep playoff push.
