Manchester United are optimistic Dan Gore will resume his loan spell at Rotherham United later this month after the midfielder suffered a hairline fracture to a metatarsal bone in February.
Gore returned to United's Carrington training complex last month to undergo treatment after he reported a foot problem the night before he was due to make his first start for the League One side.
The midfielder joined the Millers on loan in January and made his debut off the bench in a 2-1 defeat away at league leaders Birmingham City. He was in line to start against Shrewsbury Town but was forced to pull out of the squad.
Millers manager Steve Evans said Gore would be out for "weeks" and it was decided that he would return to United for treatment. The League One side have remained in regular contact with United and Evans said Gore is set to return to South Yorkshire in the not too distant future.
"Manchester United are saying the third week in March," said Evans, as quoted by the Rotherham Advertiser. "Manchester United's words to us were that they will have a very clear picture then.
"Our medical staff are in regular contact with their counterparts at Manchester United. They speak every couple of days. I speak to the coaches there, too, because I know them."

Gore has had nothing but bad luck on the injury front over the past 12 months or so. He said last month that he was "absolutely gutted" by his latest setback.
"Having loved the start to my time here and been made to feel so welcome by everyone at the club, I am absolutely gutted to have picked up an injury," said Gore.
"Everyone who knows me knows that I would play through any pain if I physically could, but unfortunately, I need to take a few weeks out. I’ll be giving everything to get back as soon as possible to contribute to the team and be able to play in front of the fans again."
