Liverpool earn four PL award nominations

Liverpool have received four nominations in the Premier League’s February awards.

Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai are in the running for the Player of the Month after helping Arne Slot’s side open up a 13-point lead in the title race.

Salah racked up another record-breaking month with 10 goal involvements for the Reds including strikes against Everton, Wolves, Aston Villa and Manchester City.

The Egyptian also set a new top-flight feat at the Etihad Stadium as the first player to score and assist in games against a reigning champions both home and away.

Separately, Salah is in the hunt for the Goal of the Month for his second strike in the win over Bournemouth at the start of last month that consolidated Liverpool’s lead.

Szoboszlai, meanwhile, was instrumental in their first victory in the blue half of Manchester for a decade by also and assisting against Pep Guardiola’s charges.

He also found the target in the leaders’ follow-up encounter with Newcastle three days later which extended their advantage over nearest challengers Arsenal.

Slot is in the running for Manager of the Month, having won November’s accolade and been shortlisted for a sixth time from his opening seven months at the helm.

The Dutchman’s latest nominations comes less than 24 hours after masterminding a 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League clash.
