Liverpool are looking to take the lead in the race for the signature of Benjamin Sesko amid his links with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Barcelona.
According to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Liverpool have knocked on the doors of RB Leipzig as they look to sign Benjamin Sesko. They have enquired about his availability as they look to beat the competition to his signature. The Slovenian international will cost around £58 million.
Sesko has only gone from strength to strength since joining the Bundesliga outfit from sister club Red Bull Salzburg in the summer of 2023. The 21-year-old is considered to be one of the best young strikers in the world, and there is no shortage of interest in his services.
Benjamin Sesko is enjoying another impressive season at RB Leipzig as he has contributed towards 22 goals in his 34 outings. While his contract runs until the summer of 2029, it is almost certain that he will end up joining a bigger club ahead of next season.
Premier League giants to battle for Sesko
Benjamin Sesko prefers moving to London, where Arsenal and Chelsea are both keen on his signature. The Gunners want a new number nine to lead their attack, as Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz have not been able to produce the numbers that Mikel Arteta seeks.
The Slovenian striker is a top target for the North London club, and they have been monitoring him for some time. Meanwhile, Chelsea are also looking for a new forward despite the fact that Nicolas Jackson has been doing a great job up top. They want someone who can compete with him and support him in the final third. The Blues would love to have Sesko in their squad, as he is a perfect fit for their project.
While both London clubs are front-runners, Liverpool are looking to overtake them. The Reds are looking for a new striker as Darwin Nunez’s continuity at the club is in doubt. The Uruguayan international has not been able to live up to Arne Slot’s demands, and the Dutch manager has identified Sesko as a priority target.
Barcelona also want to sign Benjamin Sesko
The Reds have already asked about the possibility of signing Sesko as they look to take the lead in the race. Apart from the English clubs, Barcelona are also interested in his signature. According to a report form Fichajes, the Catalan giants consider him an ideal fit for their system as he has the physical presence, pace and an eye for goals.
While the financial side of things won’t be easy for Hansi Flick’s team, the Blaugrana are still attentive to any movement that could facilitate his arrival as they consider him a great investment in the long run.
Meanwhile, RB Leipzig have an agreement with the player that they will let him leave for a fee lower than his release clause (£58 million, which could increase depending on performances) as long as their overall demands are met, which is certainly a boost for all interested clubs.
