It’s almost here – North East Derby Day is heading to Maiden Castle!
Durham take on Newcastle United in another crucial game in the Barclays Women’s Championship on Sunday, March 16 (12pm kick-off).
With the Blues and the Magpies both still battling for top spot, this is a clash that could have a major impact on the promotion race – and over 75% of tickets have already been snapped up!
But there’s still time for you to secure your spot at the big match – and here’s five reasons you can’t afford to miss the big game…
THE PROMOTION RACE IS ON
It’s been one of the tightest promotion races on record in the Barclays Women’s Championship, with over half the league still harbouring hopes of clinching top spot and a place in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Both Durham and Newcastle United remain in that hunt, and know that every point matters as we enter the final run-in.
This game could be one that has major bearings on the promotion race as the season reaches its climax.
A FIRST COMPETITIVE MAIDEN CASTLE CLASH
This will only be the second-ever competitive meeting between Durham and Newcastle United – and the first one to be held at Maiden Castle.
The two teams last locked horns in October as the Blues won 1-0 at Kingston Park. We remain the only side to have beaten Newcastle there this season.
