Manchester United will be hoping to put one foot in the quarter-finals of the Europa League this evening when they face Real Sociedad in the first leg of their last-16 tie at the Reale Arena, kick-off 5.45pm GMT.

United progressed from the new-look league phase automatically, finishing third in the table after winning five and drawing three of their eight matches. They are the only unbeaten side in the Europa League this season.

Since qualifying for the last-16 at the end of January, United's Premier League form has remained underwhelming and they have exited the FA Cup, meaning their hopes of salvaging something from this campaign rest on winning the Europa League.

Not only will winning the competition secure a piece of silverware, but it will also earn Champions League qualification for next season.

United have travelled to Spain with a squad made up of just 18 players, highlighting the extent of their current injury crisis. Harry Maguire and Manuel Ugarte have become the latest additions to a seemingly never-ending injury list.
