Brighton keen on River Plate player and offer could be on way

Brighton and Hove Albion are keen on River Plate youngster Santiago Lencina and could be set to make an offer for the 19-year-old.

That’s according to River Noticias, who say the Argentine side are expecting offers to arrive for the 19-year-old in the near future.

They explain that Brighton are ‘on the lookout’ for the youngster, who is highly rated by River Plate and currently working his way through the youth ranks.

The Seagulls have been watching him for some time and River do not rule out an offer being made in the near future. They’re certainly ‘attentive’ to the situation and waiting to see what develops.

Lencina is one of their ‘jewels’ but only has a contract until 2026, meaning they may be forced to sell in the coming months or risk losing him on a free.

Brighton, of course, have a well-established history of scooping up talent from South America and regularly keep an eye on the continent for the latest talent.

Lencina could be the latest of those talents and it seems River Plate are certainly expecting a bid to arrive at some point.
