Erik ten Hag’s return to football management may have hit a major roadblock, with reports suggesting that Jurgen Klopp has played a role in blocking a potential move.
The Dutchman’s tenure at Manchester United ended in October 2024 following a poor start to the season, despite winning both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup during his time at Old Trafford.
His time in charge was also marked by several high-profile signings that failed to elevate the squad, leading to criticism over recruitment decisions.
Since his dismissal, Erik Ten Hag has been linked with multiple clubs, including Borussia Dortmund and Feyenoord, but has maintained that he does not plan to return to management until the summer.

A potential opportunity appeared to arise at RB Leipzig, with reports earlier in the week indicating the German club’s interest in appointing him.
However, Sky Germany, via Football Transfers, has now reported that Klopp has rejected Ten Hag as an option for Leipzig, exercising his influence in his role as the club’s head of global soccer.
Jurgen Klopp, who has held the position since the start of the year, is said to have a strong vision for Leipzig’s future and does not believe Ten Hag aligns with it.
Journalist Florian Plettenberg has stated that Klopp supports keeping Marco Rose in charge until the summer, with Sebastian Hoeness viewed as the ideal long-term choice, though his interest in the role remains unclear.
Erik Ten Hag and Klopp previously faced off five times in England, with the former United boss securing two wins, two draws, and one defeat in those encounters.
