With INEOS looking to sign the world’s best young footballers for Manchester United, South America was always going to be a key focus.

Finances at Old Trafford remain in a precarious position, limiting the club’s ability to spend huge sums on established stars.

Instead, Manchester United are focusing on acquiring top young talents with high potential but relatively low risk.

This recruitment approach has already proven successful, with Chido Obi, Diego Leon, and Sekou Kone among the names brought in.

Obi, in particular, has quickly become a first-team regular under Ruben Amorim, showing the benefits of this strategy.

The South American market is another area INEOS appear determined to explore.

United already signed Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno, and Argentina is now emerging as a major talent pool of interest.

Manchester United in talks to sign Juan Gimenez

Argentina, the reigning World Cup champions, continues to produce some of the most exciting young footballers in the world.

One player now on United’s radar is 18-year-old centre-back Juan Gimenez.

According to Argentinian outlet Planeta Canalla 1889, Manchester United have opened formal talks with Rosario Central over a potential deal.

Discussions are said to be progressing, with further updates expected in the coming days.

This is yet another transfer that bears the hallmarks of Christopher Vivell and Jason Wilcox, aligning perfectly with United’s revamped recruitment model.

However, Juan Gimenez is a player who had already been on the club’s radar before the new transfer structure was put in place.

The teenager has been regarded as a top defensive prospect in Argentina for some time.

His youth coach, Jesss Gonzalez, previously praised him in The Capital, saying:

“I see him play now, and he has the same nature and ease as when he was younger.

“He added many things with the coaches he had later to be the great player he is today.”

Manchester United have been tracking him for a while, with Scouts Attending reporting in March 2024 that the club scouted him during the Copa Libertadores U20.

Gimenez was on the winning side that day, and now, one year later, United are moving to secure his signature.

It remains to be seen how the negotiations unfold, but this is another move that highlights INEOS’ long-term vision for Manchester United.
