Manchester United left annoyed by Amorim comments–Haven’t helped their summer plans

Manchester United were left frustrated by Ruben Amorim’s recent comments regarding Antony, fearing he’s helping to devalue the Brazilian.

That’s according to [UOL](https://www.uol.com.br/esporte/colunas/mercado-da-bola/2025/03/06/antony-renasce-no-betis-mas-nao-tem-mais-clima-para-voltar-ao-united.htm), who report that Manchester United want to sell the forward this summer and don’t believe Amorim’s comments have helped the situation.

Antony has been in impressive form for Real Betis since joining them on loan in the January transfer window. In fact, he has been reborn, so much so he may find himself back in the Brazil squad in the next international break.

That’s good news for Manchester United, who, at least internally, are making it clear there is ‘no longer any atmosphere’ for Antony to wear their shirt again. In other words, they want to get rid of him.

The hope is that he can revalue himself in Spain and help them recoup as much of the €100m they paid this summer, but Amorim may have thrown a spanner in the works.

He recently suggested physicality was behind Antony’s failure in the Premier League but UOL say that didn’t go down well behind the scenes at Old Trafford. Directors believe that the statements ‘devalued’ the player.

They don’t want Antony being ‘publicly depreciated’, particularly by Amorim, and would prefer for the media coverage around him to be nothing but positive in the coming months ahead of the summer when they intend to sell.
