Guido Rodriguez could be heading for the West Ham United exit already, with the midfielder’s likely transfer fee already mooted.

The Argentina midfielder, who joined West Ham in the summer of 2024, has already been linked with an exit from the Hammers.

Rodriguez joined the club on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at Real Betis.

The 30 year-old joined to provide some much needed depth and experience in the midfield and has made 19 Premier League appearances this term, starting 14 of those.

Rodriguez has not had an easy start to life at West Ham and reports of an exit have already been doing rounds.

Although a starter, Rodriguez has struggled to create a meaningful impact in the midfield, making 19 appearances so far and competing with the likes of Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse and Tomas Soucek for a starting spot.

According to River Noticias, River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo is keen to acquire the services of the 2022 World Cup winner.

The Argentine giants are currently sitting fourth in group B of the Argentine Primera division with 15 points out of a possible 24.

Gallardo is keen to add experience in the midfield and views Rodriguez as the perfect candidate to aid River Plate’s aspirations.

Los Millonarios’ coaching staff feel that Enzo Perez needs a robust midfield partner and Rodriguez could fill in that role easily.

However, to acquire the signature of Rodriguez, the Argentine club expect they will have to shell out £12.6million, which they hope is enough.

The Thirty-eight time national champions will have to move quickly if they want to sign the West Ham United first-teamer.

Graham Potter turning things around at West Ham

Graham Potter was installed as the manager of West Ham in January 2025 following the sack of Julen Lopetegui.

Under Lopetegui, West Ham had garnered only 23 points in 20 games, leaving the Hammers 14th in the table.

Potter’s first game in charge was the FA Cup clash against Aston Villa, which ended in a 2-1 loss to the East London side.

The managerial change did bring a positive influence as West Ham managed to win their first Premier League game under Potter, defeating Fulham 3-2.

Since then, Potter’s side has managed to win two games, lose three and draw one game, leaving them 15th in the Premier League table with 33 points.

While they are 16 points adrift of the relegation zone, the Hammers are failing to break the mid-table mediocrity under the former Chelsea manager.
