The negotiation procedure with the winners of the architectural competition for the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut’s new building has been completed. It is now clear that the design of the first prize winner will be realised. Heinlewischer will therefore be responsible for the project planning of the new building. The award procedures for the other planning disciplines were also successful: SÜSS Beratende Ingenieure will plan the technical equipment and dr. heinekamp the laboratory technology. On 20 February 2025, the building administration authority and the three contractual partners signed the multi-party contract. This marks the start of project phase 0 with the in-depth feasibility study, in which the competition results and the project outlines for the specialised planning for the technical equipment and laboratory technology will be brought together and further developed. In addition, an energy supply concept is drawn up, the project objectives are concretised and the eligibility for approval is checked in order to finally achieve project maturity for the so-called validation phase. In a second step, the integrated project management (IPA) team will be expanded to include the construction disciplines. The award procedures for this are expected to start at the beginning of the second half of 2025.
