'I've got to trust the authorities' - McKenna on Wolves star Cunha facing FA charge

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna says he 'trusts the authorities will make the appropriate decision' regarding the length of ban for Wolves forward Matheus Cunha.

Cunha was [controversially only hit with a two-match ban](https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/24825426.ipswich-town-matheus-cunha-hit-ban-following-altercation/) - one of which was served for an FA Cup fixture - after he snatched the glasses off the face of an Ipswich security guard following the Blues' last-gasp win at Molineux back in December.

The Brazilian, who has scored 15 goals this season, was dismissed towards the end of Saturday's FA Cup defeat to Bournemouth after scrapping with Milos Kerkez. He has been [charged with acting in an improper manner](https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/24986130.ipswich-town-wolves-striker-matheus-cunha-charged-fa/) by The FA and has until Monday to respond.

Ipswich and Wolves are locked in a Premier League relegation fight, with the Blues five points behind the West Midlanders heading into the final 11 fixtures. Ipswich are due to host Wolves in four games' time.

Asked about the potential length of Cunha's ban, McKenna replied: "Have I ever had a no comment before? I don't think I've pulled it out of my pocket in three years, but I might have to pull it out for this one!

"I know it's a wee bit of a thing around fans wanting to see a rival player not be available, because he's a very, very good player, but I don't spend one minute of energy in my day thinking about what might happen to a rival player.

"I can't control it. I've got to trust that the authorities will make the appropriate decision. We need to take care of ourselves."
