Every word Juric said on speculation, 'growing up' and 'how to die' at Liverpool

**How is the squad? Are there any injuries?**

IJ: No, no, we are all good. Only James Bree is out.

**So, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Kyle Walker-Peters and Adam Lallana, are they all ok?**

IJ: Yeah, everybody okay. Great stuff.

**What are your thoughts on this Liverpool game?**

IJ: They were really the best this year, like the difference of 13 points in Arsenal. It's true because they play great football and we know that it will be tough. It will be a very tough game for us.

**Is it mission impossible?**

IJ: No, it's never mission impossible. We will try to do our best and we will see.

**Seriously, how do you think you can hurt Liverpool here?**

IJ: Before the match, I'm always optimistic and then after, maybe I think differently. But before the match, I always see the possibility of doing something good.

**It's been reported that you won't be Southampton's manager at the end of the season, is that your understanding now?**

IJ: It's normal for every manager. When you have a result, everything is good. When you don't have a result, you have doubts or the club has doubts.

It's a normal situation. I'm used to it. For every manager, it's like this, nothing special.

**Do you really think you will be the manager here next season?**

IJ: Like I said, I don't know. I live in this moment. I think about Liverpool and not about what will happen for one year or in the future. I can do my job, try to do my best and that's it.

**How do you think you've done so far, nine defeats in 10 Premier League games?**

IJ: Not good. No, I did not good, bad.

**Why do you think it's turned out so badly?**

IJ: I think there are lots of situations. I think it is everybody's fault a little bit when things don't go well. I think that's happened.

But if I think of my job, of course, I'm not happy, I'm not satisfied. I expected much more.

**Are you disappointed the team just hasn't responded to you?**

IJ: Like I said, when things go wrong, it's everybody's fault. Not the team or me or the club. It's the fault of everybody. We have nine points, it's the fault of everybody.

With Russell, they did five and then four. It's everybody's fault. My fault, other's fault. It's not important to think about that.

It's important that we prepare for the game and that we do our best at the end of the season. Then you will see what will happen.

**There are 11 games left now. What are your expectations for the rest of the season?**

IJ: I expect that we will be much better than the last two games. I think that we played some really good games. Maybe a little bit unhappy. A really bad game.

I guess Chelsea did some good things. It's an incredible difference between us and Chelsea. It's normal for us to lose. Even 4-0.

But I don't want to repeat the Brighton game. I think it was the worst game that I've coached.

**What do you say to Southampton fans who might even say we want to change now? What's the point of carrying on with you now to the end of the season?**

IJ: I have nothing to say. I just think that they are great. They are great fans. I never saw things like this. You are at the bottom of the table. They support us.

They are optimistic, positive and everything. I can just say thank you to all of them. Nothing else.

**Tyler Dibling is one of your star young players. What would your message to interested clubs be?**

IJ: I think that this team, Southampton, we are full of young players. The first year in the Premier League.

That's Harwood-Bellis, that's Lesley, Mateus Fernandes and Dibling. There are lots of players who are really young.

It's their first year in the Premier League. It's not easy for them to be really good, really good. But they will be in the future. Dibling is a great talent. He's 18 years old.

We will see in the final when everything is finished what is best for him. He will decide, of course.

**Do you think seriously he'll be here next season?**

IJ: I don't know.

**Is there going to be a fire sale of Southampton's best players?**

IJ: Even that I don't know. This is the club's decision.

**On this game at Liverpool, what can we expect? What's your message to the fans and to the team?**

IJ: I don't want to repeat the Brighton game. I think that we have to be much better. Much more focused.

I can say that when we had our defence, we were much better with Jan and with Harwood-Bellis. I didn't have to adapt.

Nobody was there in the defence. Now, everybody is coming back. This is good news for us.

**How do you approach a game away from the league leaders?**

IJ: When you play against Liverpool, sometimes it's the way you want to die. If you do some things, they will find another way to beat you.

If you are lowblock, they will find a way to beat you. I think we have to be perfect in both things. Sometimes press, sometimes low block. We will see. We have to play well.

**In terms of what you hope to see, what are the aims of the team?**

IJ: I think that we have to grow up. As I said, we are not an experienced team. I really think that we have seven or eight really good young players.

They have to work hard with the oldest ones. They have to fight for the club. They have to play good games. That's our aim, our goal.

**How do you, as the manager, get them to be more focused?**

IJ: Only in the Brighton game I was disappointed. I think we competed in every other game. There is a difference between us and maybe others.

This is my feeling. Against Brighton, even if we lose Bednarek, if we lose Harwood-Bellis, if we lose important players, we are not being competitive in that game.

But in other situations, I was quite happy with the focus and concentration.

**How are you with the players, and what have you learned recently in order to try and help the situation?**

IJ: I think there are a few managers who have been in this situation, like I am now, with nine points and only 11 games until the end. Personally, it's not easy.

It's not easy to live with some accumulation. You have to be tough and try to work with the guys. Be close to them.

They understand they are young. This is the moment of growing up. This is the moment they have to remember in the future. They have to become tough in this moment.

**Is it almost even harder to keep the mood positive with a young squad?**

IJ: It can be harder, but it can be easier because they are young. It's a new experience. It's their first time in the Premier League, most of all of them.

They will play against Liverpool, the best team in England. For the first time, I think they will have lots of motivation.

**Can you still enjoy parts of the job, or is it all about results?**

IJ: Honestly, it's not easy. I'm not used to losing 4-0. For me, it was like if the game is finishing 0-0. I'm okay, I'm happy.

It's not easy personally to lose in the game. But like I said before, for my young players, it's a great experience.

I have to be tough. I have to think that something good can happen in these bad times. And I'm focused on that.

**Can you do that against Liverpool, or do you have to adapt your game a bit?**

IJ: I have to adapt.

**Does that mean sitting deep more?**

IJ: I think that there was a game that we were really good in defence, that we conceded not too many.

And the Brighton game, even there, maybe I made a mistake not adapting. And now, I see, but it was like after the Ipswich game and we were enthusiastic and everything.

And maybe I made a mistake there. And because we didn't have Bednarek, we didn't have Harwood-Bellis, you have to adapt in some situations that are not capable of doing.

And now, of course, I want to mix a little bit, to try not to lose everything that we work on, but even adapt the team in the situation against Liverpool.

**Have you got enough centre-backs now to give you the structure you want in the team?**

IJ: I think that we are all good, all in shape. We are not bad in the defensive way. And the last two games, Brighton, especially, was a disaster in a defensive way.

And now, with Jan again, with Harwood-Bellis, who is coming better, with Armel Bella-Kotchap, who is an option, we have more solutions. It's a good thing for us.

**Can you put Joe Aribo back in the midfield?**

IJ: I think he's a great guy. He gave me, I guess, tips which he did really well. He gave me, like, the possibility to play there.

And, of course, he can do it in one game or 45 minutes, not every game. And I think it was my bad decision against Brighton to put him again there.

And he doesn't want to change, no. The only thing I can say bad about myself is that I did wrong in that game.

**Did you watch Liverpool's game against PSG? What did you think of that performance?**

IJ: Paris Saint-Germain was a much better team. You can win, I think, one game like this in 100 games. I think that it was a huge difference.

I was really surprised. But it's like different players, I think so that they can play even lots of moments, one-on-one in the defence and moving the ball well.

And the players of Paris Saint-Germain, they don't have a problem being one-on-one with Salah, one-on-one with Nunez, Szoboszlai. They were great. I think Paris Saint-Germain was a much better team than Liverpool.

**Personally, are you looking forward to going to Anfield?**

IJ: I was imagining a better situation to enjoy the game completely, but it's a huge thing to go to Anfield and listen to the crowd singing before the match. I think it will be a great experience for me.
