Kendrick Perkins Names Top-5 PGs In The NBA

An NBA team likely won’t be able to go far in the playoffs and win a championship without a strong, proven, reliable point guard.

Right now, the league is full of many great players who take on that role, but who is the best of the best?

On Thursday morning, Kendrick Perkins revealed his top five best point guards in the league, per NBACentral, and his list contained the usual suspects.

He had Cade Cunningham of the Detroit Pistons on the list in the fifth spot, followed by Luka Doncic of the Los Angeles Lakers, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks, and finally Shai Gilegous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

These are easily some of the most celebrated guards in the league, but will any of them become champions this year?

Each of these stars has been doing big things in 2024-25.

However, Doncic and Gilgeous-Alexander have been getting the most headlines, for very different reasons.

Gilgeous-Alexander is likely on his way to his first MVP trophy and he has helped his Thunder climb to first in the Western Conference standings.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers shocked the world at the beginning of March when they acquired Doncic and there are still many headlines being written about that.

Cunningham has helped the Pistons transform into legitimate playoff contenders, while Brunson continues to power the Knicks toward the top of the East.

And, of course, Curry is still doing incredible things and recently dropped more than 50 points in a single game.

All of these men are team leaders and terrific scorers.

Perkins’ list confirms that the league is in good hands with these powerful point guards.
