'Still tweeting me': Rio Ferdinand sends jibe towards Liverpool fans after fume over Ibrahima Konate comments

Rio Ferdinand is a big topic of discussion among Liverpool fans in the aftermath of their Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain.

The Reds were 1-0 winners over the Ligue 1 champions in Paris on Wednesday night after Harvey Elliott and Darwin Nunez would combine late on in the contest to help the Reds bring a lead back to Anfield.

It is fair to say that the Premier League leaders were very lucky to come away with the win as Luis Enrique’s team were magnificent on the night, showcasing why they are one of the best teams in Europe at present.

Liverpool have Alisson Becker to thank as the Brazilian made multiple saves to keep Arne Slot’s men in the game before grabbing the winner.

Liverpool fans will not want to see their goalkeeper work as hard in the second leg next week, while Reds supporters have also had enough of Rio Ferdinand after Wednesday night’s match.

Rio Ferdinand responds to Liverpool fans’ criticism

Ferdinand was part of the TNT Sports commentary team alongside Ally McCoist and Darren Fletcher for Liverpool’s Champions League contest with PSG on Wednesday night.

This trio received criticism from Liverpool fans for their commentary displays during the Merseyside Derby last month, but it was the former Man United star who was singled out in Paris.

Liverpool fans criticised Ferdinand for his biased views during Liverpool’s 1-0 win and in the aftermath, the pundit has now responded to his critics on Rio Reacts.

MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES

The former Man United star has stated that Ibrahima Konate should have been sent off against PSG in the first half, which is the 46-year-old’s way of trolling Liverpool fans even more.

Many share this view on the Konate incident and Ferdinand’s response is a harmless way of reacting to the comments being sent his way, although TNT Sports need to start thinking more about their commentary team for Liverpool games.

Fans have not been happy about the broadcaster’s coverage of games recently and now journalists are also starting to pick up on the topic.

Ferdinand was full of praise for Alisson after the Liverpool goalkeeper’s incredible display against PSG and the former Man United also pointed out the performance of Trent Alexander-Arnold against the Ligue 1 leaders.

The pundit has shown he can do his job properly as part of TNT Sports’ broadcast team and his comments on Konate are correct, however, on commentary, the former Man United star is too much.

Liverpool journalists even got involved in the conversations around the pundit last night with the Liverpool Echo’s Ian Doyle stating: “I’m told Rio Ferdinand made for an interesting listen last night.”

His colleague at the Liverpool Echo Paul Gorst also commented on the TNT Sports pundit, writing: “Afraid there was excess Rio Ferdinand once again on tonight’s TNT coverage. Pitchside, gantries, tunnels, the man covered every blade. Just too much Rio Ferdinand.”

This is unlikely to be the last time Ferdinand has a run-in with Liverpool fans as the pundit is likely to be on commentary again between now and the end of the season.
