Manchester City are reportedly interested in Villa's young midfielder

Pep Guardiola is interested in potentially signing 23-year-old Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey - according to TBR Football.

The move is believed to be an attempt to bolster the ranks of Manchester City after the Premier League champions have been seen to underperform this season. The report says Guardiola has been 'hugely impressed'.

Highly rated Ramsey has been a solid performer for Villa under Unai Emery this campaign. He has appeared in 20 Premier League games and netted a goal against West Ham earlier this year. Across all competitions - Ramsey has achieved 31 appearances, three goals and four assists.

The Villans sit comfortably in tenth position of the top-flight competition and are still in contention in the UEFA Champions League - where they will compete in the second leg of the round of 16 stage against Club Brugge next week.

Villa have used Ramsey extensively and the midfielder is understood to be under consideration for Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad. He is also believed to have been considered by several other Premier League clubs with teams such as Arsenal and Chelsea previously mentioned as interested parties.

But, perhaps unsurprisingly - Ramsey is not expected to go cheaply and that is good news for his current club where he is a home grown player. The estimated value of the player is somewhere in excess of the £50m mark which if realised would mean a huge profit for Villa.
