Former Manchester United goalkeeper Tim Howard has faced heavy criticism after defending the Glazer family’s ownership of the club.
The Glazers, led by Avram and Joel, have owned Manchester United since 2005.
However, their management has been widely condemned by supporters for over a decade, with many blaming them for the club’s failure to win a Premier League title in 12 years despite spending over €2 billion on transfers.
Despite this, Howard stood by the Glazers during an interview with beIN Sports, defending their spending.
“I think they have spent money for Manchester United in certain places,” Howard said.
“The criticism of the ownership from fans is oftentimes one-sided.”
Howard argued that owning a football club is ultimately a business decision, stating, “When you spend your billions to own a business, you have the right to run it in any way you want.
“That comes with criticism, but everyone understands that.”

He also pointed out that while clubs like Everton have spent money, their issues aren’t necessarily down to a lack of investment, referencing Everton’s financial fair play breaches.
“The Glazers are spending money,” Howard continued, highlighting high-profile transfers like Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo.
“Was it spent wisely? Well, I’m not sure the Glazers make those decisions.”
Howard’s defense of the Glazers has not gone down well with United fans, who have criticized the former goalkeeper for what they see as inaccurate comments regarding the ownership and their impact on the club’s success.
