Good news can often come in bundles and that’s certainly the case for Flamengo’s Wesley, who can now add a Brazil call-up to his list after Arsenal and Brighton both made transfer contact.
TNT Sports Brasil cover comments from Brazil manager Dorival Júnior as he praises the youngster, who will be in his squad for the next international break after impressing at Flamengo.
The defender is a rising star of Brazilian football, and it seems Dorival Júnior is keen to get him into his set up as they take on Colombia and Argentina later this month.
The call-up caps a huge week for Wesley, who is now in the sights of the Premier League and particularly Arsenal and Brighton.
Reports this week have linked both with a move, with Arsenal reportedly contacting the player’s staff to ask about a potential transfer for the summer. They reportedly wanted to discover how much Wesley may cost should they move.
That followed a different report which had Brighton also making contact and promising to make a ‘favourable’ offer for him in the coming months.
Whether any move for him remains to be seen but it’s been a big week already ahead of what may be an already bigger summer.
