Armando Bacot is continuing to chase his dream of playing in the NBA with the Memphis Hustle in the NBA G League. Last week might have brought him a little closer to getting a shot in the NBA.
The former UNC center set a franchise record by corralling 25 rebounds in the Memphis Hustle’s 115-109 comeback win over the Santa Cruz Warriors. Bacot also scored 34 points, making this the first time a Memphis player has had a 30 point/20 rebound game in franchise history. The Hustle rallied from being down 17 points in the fourth quarter to win the game.
For his efforts in this game and overall last week, Bacot has been named the [G League Player of the Week](https://memphis.gleague.nba.com/news/armando-bacot-named-nba-g-league-player-of-the-week). Over the three games he played for the Hustle last week, Bacot averaged 25.7 points, 17 rebounds and 1.3 steals. He also flashed some range that he didn’t demonstrate in his time at UNC, hitting 41.2% of his three-pointers as the Hustle went 2-1 in those games. For the year, Bacot is averaging 17.4 points and 10 rebounds a game. [He also took part](https://www.tarheelblog.com/2025/2/1/24356330/unc-basketball-armando-bacot-selected-g-league-up-next-game) in the NBA G League Up Next Game, which is the G League’s version of an all-star game.
Tar Heel fans are no stranger to Bacot’s rebounding prowess, as he holds the all-time record for career rebounds at UNC. Bacot has been working hard to hone the skills that might help him land a role in the NBA, particularly rebounding and defense. It was a bit of a tough draw to get signed by the team that also drafted Zach Edey, but with a few more performances like this past week he’s bound to get an opportunity at some point.
