Two managers 49ers considered for Leeds are already on Rangers' radar

With 49ers Enterprises on the brink of taking over at Rangers, imaginations can run wild on the sort of players and managers that may be attracted to the club.

It is believed talks are at a very advanced stage and a deal could seen be finalised which would see the 49ers take a controlling stake in Rangers.

There is thought to be an agreement in principle in place while it has been claimed there are guarantees of significant funds for Gers’ summer transfer window.

That means fans are dreaming of the sort of players that could be brought to the club with hopes high of an overhaul that actually improves the squad this time.

Rangers News has already floated oft-linked Joey Veerman as someone the club could look to as the first signing to kickstart the 49ers era.

But there will be plenty more where that has come from before the summer, and the same can be said for managers.

49ers considered ex-Rangers boss Steven Gerrard for Leeds

It is highly unlikely Barry Ferguson will be staying on beyond the initial three months and so Gers are almost certainly going to be looking for a new boss.

There are so many managers out there that options always seem endless when there’s a vacancy, but that is even more the case with the 49ers involvement.

After Philippe Clement’s sacking, Steven Gerrard was one the names instantly put forward for the vacancy. It was even claimed there had been talks between Gerrard and Rangers but nothing could be done, with Ferguson going in instead for the time being.

Coud he still be an option for the summer? Alan Hutton certainly thinks Gerrard stands above the other names mentioned.

And the 49ers have considered him for a job before.

When Sam Allardyce moved on from Leeds, Gerrard was unattached after his move to Aston Villa turned sour and was one of the names heavily linked with the Elland Road hotseat.

At the time, The Telegraph stated the Liverpool legend was interested in the post and that he was on the list of chief executive Angus Kinnear. The 49ers group had been involved in the appointments of Allardyce and Java Gracia and were heavily involved in.

Scott Parker: Also looked at by 49ers and previously Rangers-linked

Another name on that list was Scott Parker.

The former Bournemouth boss is another who has been on the radar of Rangers too.

Parker was strongly considered by Gers before Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s appointment and instead went on to manage Club Brugge, which did not end well for him.

He is currently in charge at Burnley, who are battling against Leeds for promotion to the Premier League.
