Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo will feature in a new Amazon Prime documentary, looking at the experiences of some of England’s young stars and their journey to international football.

England’s Lions: The New Generation will be available in the UK and Ireland on Prime Video on Saturday 15 March. It will feature an exclusive interview with Mainoo, as well as England teammates Cole Palmer, Marc Guehi and Ollie Watkins.

It also has insights from friends and family and looks at the journeys of the players to get to the point of playing for England at last year’s European Championships. Mainoo played a key role in England reaching the final of the tournament where they lost 2-1 against Spain.

The documentary also includes on the pitch footage as well as an insight into the players’ lives off the pitch during the summer’s tournament with England.

Mainoo has enjoyed a meteoric rise since making his United first-team debut back in 2023. Last season he established himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet at Old Trafford, with his performances leading to him being called up to the England squad for Euro 2024, where he featured in all but one of the matches.

Mainoo is expected to miss out on the first England squad under the guidance of new manager Thomas Tuchel due to injury. The midfielder has been out since the start of last month with a muscle injury and could make his return sometime in April.

He missed out on a place in Gareth Southgate’s final squads as manager at the end of last year due to a separate injury.
