WASHINGTON (WBAY) - Congressman Tony Wied delivered a speech on the House floor Thursday recognizing the lengthy, memorable career of WBAY’s Bill Jartz.
Wied represents Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District in the U.S. House, which includes Green Bay and other parts of Northeast Wisconsin.
Bill Jartz has been a staple of Green Bay’s local TV news for more than four decades. He recently announced he is retiring from WBAY-TV.
“Thank you, Bill for your many years of service to Northeast Wisconsin and Congratulations on your retirement!” Wied said in a statement.
Bill has been honored for his charitable efforts, receiving the Heart of Gold Lifetime Achievement Award at the 34th Annual WPS Volunteer Awards, and later, the 2022 Governor’s Service Award, Volunteer of the Year/East Central Wisconsin.
It is this spirit, along with his excellence in broadcasting, which earned him recognition from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association as a Local Broadcast Legend in 2024.
The long-time voice of Lambeau Field says he plans to continue announcing home games for the foreseeable future, while serving in a new role on the Packers Board of Directors. Bill has also been a member of the Packers Hall of Fame Board since 2023.
Bill’s last day on-air will be Friday, May 23.
