BANGKOK -- Thai investigators will begin a probe into allegations of money laundering linked to the June 2024 Senate election, a Justice Ministry unit said Thursday, as tensions grow between the ruling Pheu Thai Party and its top coalition partner, the Bhumjaithai Party.
Under Thailand's system, the 200 members of the Senate -- the upper house of the National Assembly -- were chosen in an election in which only individuals who applied to be candidates could vote. Several unsuccessful candidates have claimed they lost because of collusion among the winners.
