“Wasn’t my decision”–Player says he knew move to Nottingham Forest would fail, had to accept it

Lazio star Nuno Tavares has admitted it wasn’t his decision to join Nottingham Forest on loan last season as he knew it would fail.

[CBS Sports have an interview](https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/arsenal-loanee-nuno-tavares-revives-career-at-lazio-i-want-to-win-titles-and-be-competitive/) with the defender today as he continues to have something of a renaissance with Lazio this season.

The 25-year-old joined them on loan in the summer, the latest in a growing list of temporary moves away from Arsenal, where he does not appear to be a part of the plans moving forwards.

He joined them in 2021 but a year later was loaned to Marseille, then Nottingham Forest last season and Lazio this year.

The move to Nottingham Forest simply didn’t work out for him as he managed just 12 appearances in all competitions and 696 minutes of football in total.

He did start the season in the team but quickly ell out of it a disappeared from the middle of February onwards, managing just one, one minute appearance in a 2-2 draw with Wolves before heading back to Arsenal.

It would be fair to label the whole deal as a disaster and Tavares agrees, insisting he knew that the move would not work out for him beforehand.

“Actually, it wasn’t my decision to go to Forest, I had to accept,” he said.

“I went there to play football because that’s what I want. Things didn’t go well, as I expected.

“I was trying to find a home last season. The balance in my career hasn’t been the best I would say but I think now I have the best thing and the best club to get in shape, to do things right and find stability.”
