West Ham reportedly demanding an extortionate £12.6 million to sell one of Steidten's biggest flops

The West Ham United owners are being extremely ambitious regarding the price-tag they’ve placed on the head of one of Tim Steidten’s biggest flops.

The director of football’s time at West Ham will go down as nothing more that an unmitigated disaster.

Tim Steidten oversaw numerous big money deals for players who were never going to succeed in the Premier League.

Before he was moved on last month, the German’s access to internal systems was taken away, after Graham Potter and Kyle Macaulay arrived at the London Stadium.

The appointment of Julen Lopetegui back in the summer certainly didn’t help Steidten’s chances of succeeding at the London Stadium, after the German warned the Hammers owners against bringing in the Spaniard.

However, his issues ran far deeper than Lopetegui.

Steidten was believed to be a really unpopular figure behind the scenes.

However, his biggest failing was his inability to fully grasp what attributes players need to succeed in the Premier League.

And one of his signings in particular was a great example of that lack of foresight.

West Ham ready to sell Guido Rodriguez

Hammers midfielder Guido Rodriguez has struggled terribly since swapping Real Betis for the London Stadium in the summer.

His painful lack of pace and physicality has rendered him as completely useless in the Premier League.

And it was recently claimed that there could be a four-way bidding war for West Ham’s Guido Rodriguez this summer.

West Ham’s midfield is crying out for pace, power, athleticism, energy and ball-carrying ability.

Unfortunately, Rodriguez has none of those attributes, so it’s no surprise that the Hammers might want to sell him.

I have no doubts that he’ll be sold in the summer. However, the price West Ham are demanding seems to be incredibly ambitious.

Guido Rodriguez price-tag set

River Noticias out in Argentina claim that the Hammers are demanding a quite ridiculous fee from River Plate for the 30-year-old.

It is claimed that the Hammers will not sell the midfielder for anything less than €15 million (£12.6 million) this summer.

Good luck with that!

Guido Rodriguez has proven to be a horrendous signing for West Ham, even though he was brought in on a free transfer!

In fact, it could be argued that the Argentina international was the worst signing made by Tim Steidten, due to the fact that his skill-set is totally incompatible with what’s needed in the Premier League.

The Hammers definitely should sell him this summer, but I’d be shocked if we get anything more than £5 million for him.
