“I learned from that” – Arsenal player on Mikel Arteta screaming in his face

Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares has insisted he learned from the viral moment of Mikel Arteta screaming in his face.

[CBS Sports have an interview](https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/arsenal-loanee-nuno-tavares-revives-career-at-lazio-i-want-to-win-titles-and-be-competitive/) with the full-back today as he continues to shine while on loan at Lazio this season.

The Portuguese full-back has been with Arsenal since 2021 when he arrived in an €8m deal from Benfica a Arsenal sought out a new left-back.

He only lasted a year at the Emirates, though, as Arteta and his team appeared to decide on a different direction.

Tavares has spent the last few seasons out on loan as a result, first joining Marseille, then Nottingham Forest last season and Lazio this season.

His time at Arsenal is likely to come to a permanent end in the summer, with Lazio under an obligation to buy if certain conditions are met but likely to buy him anyway even if those conditions aren’t met.

That’ll bring an end to a forgettable spell with Arsenal, with the deal never particularly working out for any party.

Indeed, the most memorable moment for him may be one of his worst, with the defender appearing in Arsenal’s All or Nothing series and a now infamous clip that saw Mikel Arteta visibly screaming in his face before going hoarse.

That came as the Gunners coach and his team struggled to get the best out of their summer signing, who they believed had a ‘changeable mood’. Tavares could have taken it badly, but instead he insists it was a learning moment.

“Nobody is perfect, I learned from that,” he said.

“As soon as you grow up, you understand you can get to another level and there are things you can’t do. That’s growing up, making mistakes to get better.”
