Borussia Dortmund’s desire to buy Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea in the summer will depend on manager Niko Kovac working out how to get the best out of him.
That’s [at least Sky Germany is anything to go by](https://sport.sky.de/fussball/artikel/der-bvb-und-kovac-muessen-vier-probleme-loesen/13322715/34942?wkz=WXTNL1), with them covering four problems that Kovac needs to fix before the end of the season.
Chukwuemeka is on loan at the German side from Chelsea and has been making positive early impressions, with several reports indicating they’d like to buy him permanently.
Indeed, that was very much the tone this week as a report stated that Kovac was a big fan of the Chelsea loanee, but Dortmund would have to qualify for the Champions League to make a permanent deal happen.
That’s looking unlikely at this moment in time as they sit 10th in the Bundesliga and 16 points outside of the top four.
Kovac has plenty of problems to fix before the end of the season and Sky say Chukwuemeka, as part of the midfield, is one of them.
According to them he has so far been ‘nothing but a promise without a payoff’ for the German side. In other words, there’s been flashes of what he can do but nothing major.
That means unless Kovac can find a way to get him firing, and Dortmund into the Champions League, a permanent move may not be on the cards this summer.
