Wayne Rooney’s visit to Bramley-Moore Dock left the Everton legend making a bold prediction for the future.

As Everton prepare for their move to a new stadium at the end of the campaign, the former Blues man was invited to take a look at Bramley-Moore Dock and see the progress.

With David Moyes having steadied the ship at Goodison Park, Blues supporters will no doubt be looking ahead to the move with optimism in the Premier League.

Rooney makes Everton managerial claim

Since replacing Sean Dyche at the start of 2025, Moyes has pulled Everton far away from a relegation battle.

The Blues now sit 16th in the Premier League table, 15 points clear of the drop zone and unbeaten in seven league outings.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

While those inside Goodison Park may have their sights set on an exciting period to come under the management of Moyes, Rooney has his mind set elsewhere.

During his visit to the new stadium, Rooney was asked which seat he fancied inside the stadium, to which Rooney replied by pointing at the dugout.

Everton will stick with Moyes for now

Rooney will always be an Everton legend after what he did for the club as a player and as a supporter of the club too, there will always be a relationship there.

However, the Blues will no doubt be wary of ruining that relationship by taking any managerial route shortly.

Although he tallied up some experience in the Championship, the 39-year-old’s managerial career has not gone to plan so far.

Derby County 28.2%

DC United 26.4%

Birmingham City 13.3%

Plymouth Argyle 20%

Rooney will no doubt always be welcome inside Bramley-Moore Dock although he may have to settle for a place further away from the technical area.

Luckily for Toffees supporters, Moyes is doing such a great job that they shouldn’t have to be considering any managerial appointments anytime soon.

The Blues look to be going from strength to strength under the Scotsman and he will be eager to continue that project as the club moves forward at Bramley-Moore Dock.

With safety seemingly secured, everyone in Merseyside will be ready for a new era to be underway next term with plenty of progress to be made.
