Aaron Ramsdale remains an option for Thomas Tuchel as the England coach faces up to goalkeeping selection issues ahead of his first squad announcement.

Southampton keeper Ramsdale was named in the Euro 2024 party that travelled to Germany, but has missed all three international squads since then — though his omission in November was down to injury.

Ramsdale, who has five England caps, has conceded 38 goals in 19 Premier League matches this season.

In total, Southampton have shipped 67 goals in their 27 games.

Nevertheless, Ramsdale is being monitored by Tuchel and his staff as they look for solutions to a dearth of options in goal.

Jordan Pickford appears sure to be selected, while Dean Henderson is a strong candidate to be picked.

Ramsdale and Newcastle’s Nick Pope are the only other goalkeepers playing regularly in the Premier League who are eligible for England.

James Trafford is earning rave reviews for his performances for Burnley in the Championship this season having kept 12 consecutive clean sheets between December and March — but it remains to be seen if Tuchel is ready to consider players not in the top-flight.
