Junior Firpo has been a crucial player for Leeds over the last few weeks, but his future at Elland Road remains up in the air.
As things stand, Leeds remain on course to achieve promotion back to the Premier League, though they wouldn’t be in that position had it not been for the recent form of Firpo.
The Spaniard has stepped forward in several big moments, with his equalising goal against Sheffield United perhaps the biggest as of yet.
However, despite that form, Leeds are yet to agree terms for a new contract with the full-back, and the latest transfer news suggests that they wont be.

Leeds winter target remains on their radar
Leeds certainly took a risk in the promotion race in the winter, having failed to sign any new players, though plenty were linked.

One of those linked with a move to Elland Road was Dennis Cirkin, who, according to a report from Sunderland AFC News (6 March), remains on their radar.

Desoite failing in their attempts to land the 22-year-old in the summer, it is believed that Leeds have “retained their interest”, though any deal may hinge on their ability to get promoted.
Several other Premier League clubs have been linked with a move for Cirkin, who will undoubtedly have a fairly hefty price tag on his head after his performances in the Championship this season.
The very fact that the Whites are still being linked with Cirkin suggests that any potential contract for Firpo is still far from being agreed, and the longer it goes on, the more it seems as though they have already made their decision.

Leeds may be forced to rue Firpo departure
While at times Firpo has been unable to impress, Leeds would simply not be where they are if it weren’t for plenty of his displays this season.
Firpo has gone from strength to strength under Daniel Farke, and there can’t be too many concerns over whether he would make the step up to Premier League football.
However, if he is to depart this summer, the Whites need to replace him, and Cirkin would be a shrewd option, depending on the finances involved in any potential deal.
If Farke’s men are to get promoted, they will have a huge summer ahead of them to have any chance of avoiding relegation straight back into the Championship.
