70-touch problem vs Real Sociedad will make Ruben Amorim want £33m Man United deal more than ever

Ruben Amorim will now have a good idea of what positions he wants to improve at Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

Earlier this week, Ruben Amorim insisted change is needed in his Manchester United squad, with a summer overhaul expected.

“I’m quite honest with my players and they already know that sometimes they have to move on at the end of the season,” Ruben Amorim said, and there are several players who will need to impress in the next few months if they want to stay at Old Trafford.

Amorim’s only major signing so far has been the £25m arrival of Patrick Dorgu in January. It didn’t take long for Amorim to demand a new wing-back when he arrived as head coach.

Dorgu solves United’s headache at left wing-back, but during Thursday’s 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad in the Europa League, it was on the right where the Red Devils really struggled.

Diogo Dalot struggles for Man United vs Real Sociedad

Only 18 Manchester United players travelled to Spain to face Sociedad in the Europa League, with Amorim’s squad ravaged by injuries.

Amorim needed his senior players to step up, but 25-year-old Diogo Dalot – who has now been at United for seven years – was extremely disappointing at right wing-back.

Dalot started on the right for United, with Alejandro Garnacho returning to the line-up to play further ahead of him. Dalot’s match stats below show just how much he struggled in Spain.

In the first half, Dalot was slammed for not finding an easy pass to Rasmus Hojlund, who was bursting into space in front of goal.

His decision-making throughout was poor, and his passing accuracy shows just how wasteful he was in possession. Dalot’s days in a United shirt may be numbered, and there is already a replacement lined up.

Ruben Amorim will desperately want Geovany Quenda at Man United

Amorim promised not to sign any of his Sporting Lisbon stars over the January window, but that promise expires in the summer and the United head coach already has a target in mind.

Reports claim Amorim would love to reunite with Quenda in England and United are making progress with a deal for the 17-year-old talent.

Quenda is expected to cost around £33m in the summer despite initial reports that he his price tag was north of £80m.

Months before the window has even opened, Quenda has agreed personal terms with United keen on making him an early signing in the summer.

United are advancing in talks for Quenda, and Dalot’s poor performance against Sociedad shows exactly why Amorim wants to bring him to England.
