On Thursday night, the Philadelphia 76ers will stay on the road and take on the Boston Celtics for the fourth and final time this season. After defeating the Celtics in TD Garden on Christmas Day, the 76ers lost each of their next two matchups against the reigning champions. However, they will have one more opportunity to get a win against their division rivals.
The 76ers have lost 13 of their last 15 games and are in the midst of a two-game losing streak. They are currently 21-40 and own the No. 12 seed in the East. While not officially eliminated, it will prove extremely difficult for the 76ers to make a postseason appearance this year, especially after shutting Joel Embiid down for the rest of the season.
As the 76ers look to get back in the win column, the team has already made an announcement on Paul George before their game against the Celtics.
After five years with the Los Angeles Clippers, George signed with the 76ers as a free agent last offseason. Though there were many who questioned whether he could stay healthy alongside Embiid, others liked the fit of George in Philadelphia. Unfortunately for him and the team, the nine-time All-Star has dealt with numerous injuries and continues to do so.
Per ESPN's Shams Charania, the 76ers have announced that George will not suit up on Thursday night against the Celtics.
76ers' Paul George is out tonight against the Celtics with groin soreness, sources tell ESPN. Sixers are without George and Tyrese Maxey (back) tonight along with season-ending absences of Joel Embiid, Jared McCain and Eric Gordon.

Despite his constant injuries this season, George has appeared in all but one game for the 76ers since the All-Star break. For the team to have any chance at making any type of run this late in the season, it is crucial that George is available for as many games as possible.
