The last month has been a complete nightmare for the Dallas Mavericks. First, they traded away Luka Doncic, and Anthony Davis came to Dallas as part of the trade. Davis got injured during his first game with the Mavericks. Then, earlier this week, Kyrie Irving went down with an injury. He tore his ACL, and he is now out for the season. Dallas is going to have some work to do this offseason, and former Maverick Theo Pinson thinks that Kevin Durant might be the fix.
Kevin Durant could be on the move again this offseason, and there is a chance that the Mavericks want to pursue him. Fans are not happy right now, but bringing a star like Durant in could fix things. A healthy Mavericks team with Durant could be special.
“You got to go get Kevin Durant this summer. It’s a must have,” Theo Pinson said during an episode of Run Your Race Podcast. “Understandably you raised the ticket prices, alright well you need three stars if you want people to come to the game right. 8% higher, that part I don’t really condone, so I’m not a part of that one.”

It doesn't look like Durant wants to be with the Suns anymore, and the trade would make sense for the Mavericks as they have to do something to make themselves a contender again.
The thing is the Mavs got a lot of assets they can use to get Kevin Durant in my opinion,” Pinson continued. “They’ve got three elite bigs in my opinion. They’re going to want one, because they need a big. You’re not giving up Anthony Davis, so it’s either [Daniel] Gafford or [Dereck] Lively. It makes sense for both teams. KD don’t want to be there, and they need a big. That’s the one thing the Suns don’t have is a big man, and they’ve got three over here, well two they aren’t giving up Anthony Davis.”
It's hard to believe where the Mavericks are at right now after going all the way to the NBA Finals last season. No one saw this coming, but this is the reality for the franchise. Their hopes of doing anything for this season are gone, but they have to find a way to get back in the fold during the offseason. The fan base is out on this team right now, but trading for a big-time star like Kevin Durant could pull them back in.
