Ex-Manchester United hotshot Mason Greenwood is eyeing a future in Jamaican football colours.

The former Red Devil, 23, and with a single England cap to his name, has thrown his lot in with Jamaica.

There's been no looking back for Greenwood since he made Marseille his new football family, as he's been absolutely smashing it on the pitch - but there's no way he's getting back into the Three Lions squad.

Greenwood was dumped by England and also shown the door by United after being arrested on suspicion of attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and controlling and coercive behaviour in January 2022.

He was later charged but all charges were then dropped in February 2023.

Gareth Southgate did not try to recall him before leaving his post and because Greenwood has applied to switch he is no longer available even if new boss Thomas Tuchel wanted to pick him.

Mark Bullingham said: "So my understanding, and I'd have to double check my understanding, is he's asked to switch. That's happened formally, so he wouldn't be able to because you can only switch once.

"I know people asked Gareth about him and Gareth was up front in that he hadn't been in his thinking, because he hadn't been performing at that level, so I'm not aware of any communication we had with him," reports the Mirror.

"I don't think there was ever a request or anything like that. It just wasn't one we got to, so it's a personal decision by him."

Greenwood's solitary England appearance was in Iceland back in September 2020, but he landed in hot water for breaching strict Covid regulations post-match by reportedly inviting two women into the England camp alongside Phil Foden.
